You can sip a beverage at the coffee shop/cafe. This resort is home to 4 onsite restaurants, perfect for a quick bite to eat. This 202-room, 4.5-star resort has 2 outdoor pools along with a full-service spa and 4 restaurants. Within a short walk of Playa Monte del Barco, Secrets Papagayo - Adults Only - All inclusive is within a mile (2 km) of Playa Panamá. I ate breakfast on my balcony and ants were crawling up my legs before I was halfway done. The room looked clean until you walked on it barefoot and looked at the bottom of your feet. I picked this hotel for us 4 and 100% regret it. Upon check in, my friends told me they were forced to spend 30 minutes listening to a time share presentation. By the end of the day, the pool is disgusting with a sunscreen film and dingy water. I kept to myself yet he actually told my friends "I don't like her" and I heard him say it. (Also the entire hour he went on lunch break, I sat at the pool bar drinking water). I had done nothing but sit at the bar taking photos of my friends playing basketball, while drinking water. I did not say anything to him for cutting me off.
COSTA RICA SECRETS RESORTS HOW TO
His coworker told me wrong on how to say his name- it was spelled like Gorenier(?). The other was a bartender who cut me off after 2 drinks for mispronouncing his name. Staff were great except for 2, one who looked miserable but she made a killer iced coffee. The sand is hard, not soft sand to put your toes in. I deeply cut my foot on coral when I went into the water.
COSTA RICA SECRETS RESORTS FULL
The black sand beach is rocky, full of coral & jelly fish. The beach is small and had jellyfish in the waters, so we didn't swim at the beach, but the swimming pool (and swim up bar!) made up for that.

Our room was very comfortable, and the concierge delivered a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine on our anniversary. We tried out every restaurant on site, and were pleased with all of them. Fortunately we had wifi, so we could still send emails. I brought this up to our Preferred Club concierge on two separate occasions, and the response was a very tepid "Yes, we are having problems." Since Unlimited Connectivity is supposed to be one of the resort's selling points, I was dismayed at the lack of urgency the concierge had to find out what happened, or how to remedy it. The one complaint I had is that the resort's Unlimited Connectivity app to make free phone calls/texts did not work for our entire stay. We reserved a Preferred Guest room, which gave a few additional amenities like a private bar/lounge and advanced cabana reservations (very important for me, as I am very sensitive to the sun). It was a wonderful stay, very quaint and peaceful. We stayed at Secrets Papagayo to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
